Vital Materials got an agreement with Hangzhou Jinjiang Group to form a venture for the production of Gallium

In Dec. 2013, Vital Materials entered into an agreement with Hangzhou Jinjiang Group to form a joint venture for the production of Gallium. The joint venture operation will produce 60mt annually. Hangzhou Jinjiang Group was established in 1993 with a focus on energy, non-ferrous metals and chemical products. It is one of the Top 500 Manufacturing Enterprises in China, and it is the world’s second largest producer of Alumina with an output of 8 million tons per year. Jinjiang Group’s subsidiary Xingan Gallium, is one of the world’s major Gallium producers, and has the largest single production line in the world. The joint venture is a further step by Vital to strengthen its supply chain to meet the demand from its downstream production of GaAs wafer and TMGa. It’s the continuation of Vital’s strategy of being a vertically integrated materials technology group.

During the same period, Vital was authorized as the National Enterprise Technology Center by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China. The NDRC is a macroeconomic management agency under the Chinese State Council, whose function is to study and formulate policies for economic and social development, maintain the balance of economic development, and to guide restructuring of China’s economic system. The purpose of the accreditation is to encourage the enterprises who have strong scientific and technological strength and well equipped with first-class R&D facilities and professional team, to continuously improve the capability of independent innovation with government’s incentives as well as self-investment, to become the leading role in the industry and contribute to China’s industrialization and economic growth. The authorization will enable Vital to further develop more state-of-the-art technologies and maintain its position as the forerunner of innovation in the minor metals industry.

This is another milestone achievement of Vital after being authorized as the country’s National Minor Metals Engineering Research Center by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology. Vital now has two national level technology centers, one Post Doctorate Work Station and one Technical Committee led by a China Academy of Science (CAS) Fellow. By far Vital is the only one in the minor metals industry to achieve this level.

In addition, recently Vital was officially approved with Indium export license and quota by China’s Ministry of Commerce.

All these achievements further consolidated Vital’s leading role in the world’s minor metals industry with a focus on Selenium, Tellurium, Bismuth, Indium, Cadmium, Germanium and Gallium.
