UTC Aerospace Systems has introduced the Sensors Unlimited 320CSX, the latest in its line of MicroSWIR™ short wave infrared (SWIR) video cameras. According to UTC, the low-noise, rugged SWIR camera offers the size, weight, and power (SWaP) at a very affordable price without ITAR restrictions. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. The company says that the SWIR camera’s performance, reliability and low SWaP make it ideal for use in a range of industrial applications that include persistent surveillance, process monitoring, and enhanced vision.
“Many of our industrial customers have been asking for a more affordable, small SWIR imager and our product design team did a great job of answering the call,” said Bob Jones, director of sales for Sensors Unlimited.
The 320CSX offers a standard C-mount lens interface, which allows it to adapt to a variety of commercial-off-the-shelf lens options. On the backend, the camera offers a modular output, which will initially provide RS170 analog video, CameraLink® digital video, and RS232 command and control, but may be expanded to offer other industry standard interfaces. The 320CSX camera features ¼ VGA resolution (320×256 pixels, 12.5-micrometer pixel pitch). It weighs less than 55 grams and measures 1.25 inches per side. The camera consumes less than 2 watts of power at 20 degrees C. It can operate with case temperatures from -40 to 70 degrees C. A range of features helps the camera optimize imagery in a variety of lighting conditions. Like all members of the other MicroSWIR™ cameras, UTC built the 320CSX for rugged operation. It includes the assurance of MIL-STD-810G environmental testing.
