SMI Announces Successful Completion of MDA Phase II Award to Produce Minimal Turn on Voltage Antimonide-Based HBTs

Structured Materials Industries, Inc. (SMI) reports that it has received and completed a Phase II SBIR to produce antimonide based HBTs. The implementation of HBTs in the antimonide material system enables very low voltage operation. The target of the program, which teams SMI with Sarnoff Corporation, is to achieve near zero voltage device turn-on and very high speeds; >40 GHz. The success of this program helps enable very high speed very low power devices for communications, measuring instruments and other applications.
