Skyworks Adds PAs Aimed at LAA and LTE-U Spectrum for Small Cell Base Stations

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. added new, high-efficiency power amplifiers targeting the License Assisted Access (LAA) and LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) spectrum for LTE-Advanced base stations. With the addition, the company expanded its portfolio of small cell solutions.

To meet emerging requirements for the transition from 4G to 5G, wireless carriers and telecommunication manufacturers are increasingly demanding efficient and highly integrated system architectures.

PAs for LAA and LTE-U Spectrums Boast Four Times Efficiency

Skyworks says that its latest power amplifiers (PAs) deliver four times higher efficiency than competing products and easily enable small cells to meet Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) standards. When the PAs are combined with the Skyworks pin-to-pin compatible SKY6629x small cell product family, the PAs support all 3GPP bands.

Analog Devices, Inc. says that its AD9375 small cell radio reference design leverages this power amplifier family. Also, according to Analog Devices, the reference design integrates digital pre-distortion and offers customers a single platform with the highest available efficiency and linearity.
