Audi has chosen ON Semiconductor to its Progressive SemiConductor Program (PSCP); a collaboration intended to drive electronics innovations and quality in future electric and autonomous vehicles. The goal of the interdisciplinary semiconductor strategy is to promote innovation and quality and to ensure that Audi can be an early adopter of the latest technologies. Advances in autonomous vehicles require progress in powertrain electrification and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Audi expects such advances from semiconductor-based solutions.
ON Semiconductor is recognized for image sensors as well as power management and connectivity for automated driving systems. In addition, On semiconductor’s portfolio of power solutions includes modules and SiC/GaN wide-bandgap devices that the company says can enable the development of advanced, very efficient, next-generation electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).
The new collaboration between Audi and ON Semiconductor is expected to help advance automated driving systems and vehicle electrification.
