PowerSphyr and GaN Systems Developing GaN-based Wireless Power Systems

PowerSphyr of Danville, California USA, a pioneer in wireless charging, and GaN Systems, a fabless developer of GaN (gallium nitride) power semiconductors, announced a strategic agreement to bring state-of-the-art GaN-based wireless power systems to market.

PowerSphyr and GaN Systems to Bring Wireless Charging to Applications Beyond Phones

Under the agreement, the companies intend to develop high-powered wireless charging applications across consumer, industrial, and automotive sectors. The companies plan to develop the hardware and firmware for wireless charging for these markets and move it into applications beyond just phones and into all types of battery powered products including power tools, drones, robots, and even ebikes.

GaN Power Systems and Power Sphyr pointed out that GaN-based wireless power solutions have enabled faster charging, higher power transfer, and new system designs that are removing the limitations of the amount of power and the distance over which it can be transmitted for wireless charging.
