Compound semi company IQE plc of Cardiff, UK, was honored at an event on Wednesday 30th November held at the London Stock Exchange, for The European Business Awards sponsored by RSM. The European Business Awards was set up to support the development of a stronger and more prosperous business community throughout Europe. This year the European Business Awards engaged with over 33,000 businesses from 34 countries.
A panel of independent judges, including senior businesses and academic leaders, chose IQE to be one of 55 European firms to be competitors in Europe’s largest business competition. The panel chose IQE in recognition for its close work with the Welsh Government and Cardiff University in achieving key milestones in developing an advanced, high-tech manufacturing capability. The milestones were part of the Welsh Government and Cardiff University’s efforts to help establish the world’s first Compound Semiconductor Cluster in Wales.
Public Vote for UK Winner of European Business Awards
IQE will now take part in the competition to be “National Public Champion” for the UK. As part of the competition, IQE will release a video that reveals the story of its business and its success. The company with the most votes from the public will be UK’s National Public Champion. Then, the UK winner will be announced at the Gala Final in spring 2017.
The first phase of the online voting is now open. During the second public vote, the National Public Champions from the countries of Europe will compete against one another to become the overall European Public Champion.
