Aixtron SE, reported that HLJ Technology Co., Ltd, a Vertical-Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) epitaxial and chipmaker based in Taiwan, has ordered multiple MOCVD type AIX 2800G4-TM systems. This order will expand the firm’s wafer capacity and increase the size of the wafers for VCSEL production from 4 to 6 inches. Aixtron says its fully automated Planetary Reactor® systems will ship in Q4 / 2018 in an 8×6-inch configuration.
HLJ Orders AIX 2800G4-TM Systems for VCSEL Fabrication
According to Aixtron, the AIX 2800G4-TM is considered the industry standard for high-end laser applications including VCSEL, especially in the for 3D sensing, due to the superior performance of the Planetary Reactor® concept for controlling the thickness and uniformity of epitaxial layer wavelengths. Thus, a plant using the system can deliver a maximum yield of high-quality products, Aixtron noted
First Full VCSEL Production Line Operational in Q2 of 2019
Dr. Larry Lai, general manager of HLJ said, “In order to meet VCSEL’s rapidly growing demand for both epi-wafer and chip-level markets, we decided to expand production to 6-inch Epi wafers, From Q4 / 2018, two newly ordered Aixtron MOCVD systems will arrive at HLJ. In Q2 / 2019, the first full production line for VCSEL mass production will be operational.”
