Nichia starts sample shipments of green semiconductor laser

July 7, 2010... Nichia Corpopration has succeeded in deleloping green GaN-based laser diode, will start its shipment from August. We confirmed that estimated life time 10,000 hours with the condition of 50mW in continuous-wave operation at 60°C, case temperature.

Our developed green semiconductor laser diode has some advantages such as small power consumption, small volume, high efficiency, and low cost compared with conventional light sources applied for pico projector. We will do the best for the development and the mass production of the semiconductor laser for the projector.

All Nichia employees will contribute to society by devoting their continued efforts to research, development and manufacturing of value-added products, i.e. MONOTSUKURI, in Japanese.
