August 16, 2007... An aqueduct built during reign of the Roman Empire in what is now Southern
France has received a touch of the modern world with LED lighting from PixelRange.
The very old and famous roman aqueduct known as Le Pont du Gard spans the Gardon
River in Southern France. It is reportedly one of France's major tourist attractions
(second only to the Eiffel Tower) especially during the summer festival. The
festival is takes place each summer in the huge national park in which the aqueduct
resides. It celebrates the aqueduct and the region of Nimes.
French company Group F, produced the spectacle that incorporated lighting,
actor performances, acrobats, video, fireworks and music. All the lighting was
supplied by Waldeck Organisation Aix en Provence. Lighting Designer, Jean Mark
Bouaniche chose a PixelRange rig for the occasion. not surprisingly, all of the PixelRange products use Luxeon LEDs from Philips Lumileds. The rig included: 110 PixelLine
110s, 20 PixelLine 1044s, 36 PixelPars and 12 PixelBricks. Jean Marc commented,
“I didn’t want to mix generic lights with LEDs. I wanted the
aqueduct reflecting in its own color – not lightening it with HMI or MSR
lamps.”
