CoorsTek Acquires Saint-Gobain Advanced Ceramics Business

January 3, 2011... CoorsTek Inc., a large technical ceramics manufacturer with headquarters in Golden Colorado USA, announced the completion of the purchase of the advanced ceramics business of Saint-Gobain. The company's purchase augmenting the 44 facilities on four continents that the company owns or operates.
The company purchase adds six manufacturing facilities in Europe, four in the
United States, one each in Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, and distribution and sales
offices in Japan, China, Taiwan, and Singapore. CoorsTek also gained product lines and materials from the acquisition including: silicon carbide for use in semiconductor processing equipment; proprietary silicon carbide ceramic blends used in hot surface ignition systems; silicon nitride used to make extremely durable bearings; mullite used in molten metal filtration; steatite for electrical appliance markets; and specialty ceramics for custom, critical-duty applications.

President, and CEO of CoorsTek, Inc. “We offer our customers expanded material
and processing capabilities, product offerings, and geographical reach,” he
continued.
