Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc. Forms Strategic Alliance With Largest LED Manufacturer in Korea

July 6, 2006... Columbia, South Carolina USA--Columbia, SC based company Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc. (SET Inc., www.s-et.com) announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership and stock purchase agreement with Seoul Optodevice Company (SOC, www.soc.com), a wholly own subsidiary of Seoul Semiconductor Company (www.seoulsemicon.com).

SET Inc. is a world leader in the development and production of deep ultraviolet Light Emitting Diodes (DUV LEDs) based on III-Nitride semiconductor materials. The company is offering DUV LEDs with peak emission wavelengths in the range from 247 nm to 365 nm. These novel devices are expected to penetrate existing and create new diversified markets which require compact, fast, low-cost, low-power consumption UV light sources. DUV LEDs are finding applications in optical sensors (including bio-agent sensors), water and air purification, surface and tissue disinfection, biomedical, medical and analytical instrumentation, protein analysis, UV curing and many others. SET Inc. started sampling its products in the Fall of 2004 and now has over 300 customers world-wide.

SSC is a largest packaging house of visible LEDs in Korea with 3B/year LED production capacity focused on applications such as back light units for cellular phones and large display panels, automotive and solid state lighting. SOC is a fully vertically integrated volume manufacturer of blue, green and near UV LED chips.

In addition to continuing technology innovations, providing customized solutions and ramping up production of DUV LED epitaxial wafers SETI will realign its operations to add the development of application-oriented products that use DUV LEDs as components. SSC/SOC will take on the task of manufacturing standard products for high volume markets and will be responsible for products sales world-wide, except North, and South Americas. SETI will be distributing DUV LED components in the Americas and high-end products world-wide.
