Evans Joins Veeco-Applied Epi as Vice President of Advanced Technology

Keith Evans, former vice president of business development for IQE, Inc., Bethlehem, PA, has joined Veeco-Applied Epi as vice president of Advanced Technology. In this role, Evans will lead Veeco-Applied Epi’s technology and emerging application development efforts using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE).

“Keith has extensive knowledge of MBE and metal organic vapor phase deposition (MOVPE) technologies from his experience at IQE, the world’s largest epiwafer manufacturer,” said Marlin Braun, general manager, Veeco-Applied Epi. “We can think of no one better to lead our company’s expanding team of MBE scientists as the silicon and compound semiconductor markets converge.”

Evans has held several senior management positions with IQE, including vice president of technology and vice president of operations. In his most recent position as vice president of business development, he helped drive the III-V on silicon market effort. Prior to joining IQE, he served as manager of crystal growth and development with Semiconductor Laser International Corp., Binghamton, NY, and as group leader, MBE crystal growth, at the Air Force Wright Laboratory, Dayton, OH. He holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Purdue University, and has authored more than 200 journal articles. He is also currently on the board of directors of GaAs MANTECH.
