As we learned at Blue 2003, things are changing, and not so quietly anymore. Emerging from laboratory curiosity, the blue spectrum technologies have become a completed "industry". At the Blue 2004 event in Hsinchu, nearly 200 attendees saw the incredible growth and unity of mission that the blue spectrum leaders have to make solid state lighting an everyday reality. Blue 2005/Advanced LEDs 2005 was a powerful follow-up event with over 200 in attendance, examining the latest happenings in this news making industry.

This 3rd Annual international event gathered together the complete vertical market, from leading manufacturers and developers of advanced materials and processes, to devices, packaging and system assembly. In addition to these key updates, a primary goal of the event was to continue to promote the rapid deployment, acceptance, and mainstream market adoption of solid state semiconductor light emitting technologies and devices. A special highlight of this year’s conference was a focus session on IP and patent issues, not only featuring views from industry insiders, but from outside the industry as practicing IP experts discuss the lessons learned from other high-growth technology industries as they moved from innovation to commercial success. Talk to anyone who attended, and you'll understand why you need to be there next year!

Conference Co-Chairs:

Dr. Yung-Sheng Liu -- VP and General Director
  Opto-Electronics & Systems Laboratories (OES)
Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Hsin Chu, Taiwan
Dr. Tae-Il Kim -- President ,
Korean Photonic Technology Institute (KOPTI), Kwangju, Korea
:Dr. Robert Walker, Coordinating Co-Chair -- Principal, YEBY Associates

Keynote Speakers:

Among this year's keynoters, we're pleased to welcome George Mueller, Chairman & CEO of Color Kinetics, H.S. Chung who was Managing Director of Samsung/SEMCO, Patricia A. Martone with the Fish & Neave IP Group, of Ropes & Gray LLP and Dr. Robert Steele of Strategies Unlimited.

At Blue 2005/Advanced LEDs you heard the stories behind the stories, direct from the market drivers, and learned where the hottest applications are headed. Whether you're an advanced LED system integrator, device manufacturer, or supplying to them, next year's event is for you!
