Alcom to Distribute Plessey's GaN-on-Silicon LEDs in Europe

Plessey Semiconductors of Plymouth, England, reported that Alcom Electronics B.V, an electronics distributor based in the Netherlands, agreed to distribute the Plessy’s GaN-on-Si LEDs. Plessy says that the agreement is will expand its European network to cover the Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) market for its GaN-on-Si LED products. Plessey’s MaGIC™ (Manufactured on GaN-on-Si I/C) high brightness LED technology has won many awards for both its innovation and its for ability to use standard silicon manufacturing techniques to cut LED production costs.

Marcel den Bak, Managing Director of Alcom, said, “Plessey, being an early adaptor of GaN-on-Si LED technology, will bring Alcom and its customers an extremely competitive, high quality light source.
