Baylin Technologies Inc. reported that a military customer ordered its GaN-based satellite communication (SATCOM) block up converters (BUCs) from Advantech Wireless Technologies Inc. its Dorval, Quebec subsidiary.
“Our customers appreciate the exceptional linearity and operating efficiency our products offer. The GaN X-band line of solid state power amplifiers (SSPAs) is extremely versatile and provides small form factor units for mobile applications, medium power for maritime use and high power for large teleport applications,” said Randy Dewey, president and CEO of Baylin Technologies Inc.
Advantech says its latest generation of extremely versatile X-Band GaN-based SSPAs and BUCs are ideally suited for harsh environments, Satcom on the Move (SOTM) and man-pack terminal deployments. The company constructed the weatherproof X-band GaN-based BUCs in a compact cooling enclosure created for outdoor operation. According to Advantech, these ruggedized, and smaller BUCs are fully integrated units that can enable new terminal designs for both mobile and on the halt tactical communication systems.
